Appendix D - Image Quality

This appendix is provided as a quick reference of image quality capabilities of each graphic file format.

It also displays the 3 main types of formats if there is a question about browser compatability with a format (most notably PNG).

A more in-depth approach is taken in Appendix E: The Image Lab.

Notes:
  • The PNG file and the JPG files with excellent image quality both begin to introduce a pattern in the sky.
  • The JPG file with fair image quality is pixelatd.
  • The GIF files perform well in this example. However, notice the quality of the sky in the upper right corner. As number of colors decrease, so does quality of image
